The Limited Usefulness of Duplicitous Prophecy

There are many prophecies throughout the world concerning an end of this age, the ending of this world and the birthing of the next, or the end of the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI). Since all of these prophecies conflict on major points, only one can be correct. The difference between the one that is Truth and all the others rests upon this: Truth has never been wrong, will not be wrong, cannot be wrong.

How do we gauge the value of a prophecy?

Many today believe that the Holy Bible is the very Word of God, and therefore absolute Truth, handed down to man through the hands of other men, the latter being divinely inspired in their writings. These believers point to the fulfilled prophecies of the nation Israel in ancient times and present days. They point to prophecies concerning other nations and their kings, such as Darius of Persia, Alexander of Greece, and the various manifestations of Rome in ancient, present, and future times. Supporters of the Holy Bible as absolute Truth also point to the many times that man has accused that the Holy Bible contains scientific or historical errors, only to see man proved wrong.

Claims against the historical or scientific accuracy of the Holy Bible have at various times included scientific evidence that the Sun was stationary, the earth was flat, and that gold could not be transparent, and the "fact" that there was no archeological evidence of the Hittites, Kings Solomon or David, or Belshazzar of Babylon. All of these accusations based in "fact" (and several more) have been disproven as human knowledge increased through experimentation, telescopes, and further archaeological excavation..

Science has been slow to catch up with the Bible in areas that were not debated. Millennia before man understood the vitality of blood, God forbade the Hebrews to eat animal flesh with its blood in it, "For the life of the flesh is in its blood." Scientists are only now beginning to seriously theorize on multi-dimensional worlds, while throughout the Old Testament there are examples of beings hidden within space and time being revealed to men as God opened their eyes (Daniel 10:12-14, 2 Kings 6:15-17, Daniel 3:23-25) and in the New Testament we see one of the apostles (Philip) transported about 30 miles in what might be best described in our terms as an inter-dimensional wormhole (Acts 8:39-40).

Today, it is still popular to use timelines and archeological evidence developed with the same disproven methods to question the timing of the prophecies of Daniel and the entire New Testament, including the Revelation prophecy. Considering the track record so far of scientific and historical knowledge vs. the Holy Bible, many have decided that the Holy Bible is what it claims to be: The very Word of God, without error, containing absolute Truth.

The standard is high

This raises the standard for any other prophetic voice. Has the prophet ever been wrong? Some prophets write cryptically. Such is the case of Nostradamus. His quatrains have been given various meanings over the years. He did not write clearly enough that his prophecies can be gauged as right or wrong, and many interpretations of fulfillment are questionable at best. What of the prophecies of the Maya? We barely understand the symbolism in their drawings, and chances are good that we are not interpreting them correctly. As for the famed Mayan calendar, dates from September 2011 to December 2013 have been deciphered, with many settling today on the numerically elegant "12-21-12" as the date. What of the Hopi prophecy? The prophecy about the glass house the Hopi would be denied entry into is interpreted as the United Nations building. In 1993, a Hopi elder addressed the United Nations. We could go on and on and on, and we'll not even touch modern oracles like the Web Bot or so-called psychics and remote viewers to examine their track records.

The purposes of duplicitous prophecy

What is the source and intent behind the deceiving propheices around the world? Many are from confused and sometimes delirious people. Sometimes the purpose is gaining a feeling of being special, or to garner attention. What of prophecies related to ancient religions, renown seers, or a scientific method, and others apparently being occasionally accurate in their predictions? In some instances, it could be sheer luck. As the saying goes, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. In other cases, however, the source and the purposes of the duplicitous or intentionally deceiving prophecy is more sinister. The source is supernatural, and the purpose is to misdirect and deceive, and ultimately, to destroy.

The enemy of Truth and father of lies makes no binding covenant with anyone. He has no moral conscious that would preclude him from enticing men and women to serve his purposes while leading them to sure destruction. He will give a bald-faced lie with a kernel of truth, or accurate prophecy, so that the path it outlines will seem genuine to humanity. That is the only reason those who channel these false prophecies are given any correct information at all -- to make the deception associated with the prophecy more believable.

That there are so many different paths and tales does not dilute the liar's effectiveness, for the payoff is not in the lie that is believed but in the Truth that is denied.

How is this information useful?

The only profitable use for these prophecies is to determine the methods and gauge the desperation of the liar. As he becomes more desperate, perhaps because he realizes that his time is short, more and more individual humans will receive a "call" to study these prophecies and "enlightenment" as to their meanings. The more we see this happening around us, and especially when we see it seeping into the teachings brought to the church through her leaders, the more encouraged we can be that the day of the liar's total and final fall is near. We can also use the information in the prophecies and the beliefs related to them to understand the ruses that will be employed against humanity as the climax of the ages is approaching. With this, we can teach and reach others, snatching them from destruction.

What we should never, ever do with it

What we must never, ever do with these false prophetic messages is think that maybe they are received from God by man outside of His blessed Word handed down through the Scriptures. We also should never take the prophecy of the Holy Bible to them, examining the Word of God against the lie, or consider those deceiving words as any sort of verification of the Truth we have received in the Word. The Holy Bible is absolute Truth, held above all others. As Christ Jesus is the Word and the Word is God, there is none above or beside the Word. Those warnings may seem obvious, or may seem to be the same words over and over again, but there are subtle difference, and subtle dangers. It is paramount that we keep the correct perspective or we risk becoming confused and deceived ourselves.
