Misleading so-called "signs of the times" Empty Misleading so-called "signs of the times"

I don't know if this matter with Iran is going to blow up into something but what comes to mind is a caution about being too concerned with what happens in the Middle East. Satan is thrilled that most who believe in God and most who have any inkling of the truth about things having come to faith in Christ or not are convinced that we are to have our eyes on the temporal holy land and Jerusalem and not the heavenly one. Too many looking for an earthly kingdom when ours is a spiritual one as Jesus told the Samaritan woman, Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

What happens in the Middle East might bring inflation due to high oil prices or terrorism or any number of things but it is not essentially pointing to the fulfillment of prophecy. Just like other errors being taught the past century more or less about the return of Christ with His Kingdom, this one gains acceptance because it is easy to understand and accept, and gets people excited that they will be raptured soon. Those of us who understand the true meaning of these things need to keep our heads on straight, not get caught up in all the idle talk and be gentle with those who are holding to false teachings on these things, seeking God's help in how to speak to them and for an opportunity to correct their error in love.

Just wanted to share that, if anyone comes around here to read.

Misleading so-called "signs of the times" Empty watching the temporal

Post  joeskid Wed Jan 23, 2013 2:27 pm

It is vital to watch events in the middle east the Lord Jesus Christ prophecied that events would happen there.

Luke 19

41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

This passage concerned Jerusalem then and now.

Jews returning to the land is a fulfillment of prophecy, He came unto His own and they received Him not, therefore they do not know the things which belong to their peace, so, the identity of the Saviour is kept from them.

It is written that when we see Jerusalem surrounded that the day of the Lord is near, not watching events in the middle east would be ignoring what Christ taught.
