With our limited understanding and frail vocabulary, man attempts to teach about God, whose nature is unsearchable. We cannot know all about Him. We struggle to comprehend as much of Himself as He has chosen to reveal to us in His Word.

Here, we begin with attributes of God's existence. We can take great comfort in knowing these truths.

God is eternal. He has always existed and will always exist. There was never a time when God was not. He was not born, He cannot die. God has no beginning or end, but is in fact the beginning of all that exists. (Revelation 1:8, Psalm 90:2, I Timothy 1:17)

God is entirely self-existent. He needs nothing outside of Himself to continue His existence. God needs no air or water, no food or shelter. He is entirely, totally complete.

God is therefore sovereign. He controls everything. No one is above Him. He is above all.

God is unchanging. He is perfect in all His ways. He cannot lie or forget a promise. What He has said, He will do. (Malachi 3:6)

More to come. Much, much, much, much more.

How great is our God!
